About Samskaras and Significance of a Thread in Hinduism
We have 16 Samskaras ( Refers to Sankskar in Sanskrit),
in our culture we also discuss about 16 sanskar. You have notice wearing red thread in wrist of hindu people,
we called Kalawa and it is also known as red, orange, yellow, saffron thread),
white thread which is also known as Janeu and black thread around their wrist
and ankle. Have you wonder , why we wearing ? In today blog we know about
significance of a thread we also discuss about samskaras.

We all aware about
Samskaras ( In Sanskrit : Sanskar), as we also aware there is sixteen
Samskaras.
Name and details are as follows:-
1- Garbhadhaan-
In hindu legacy , There is for Samskaras before the birth of baby and eleven
Samskaras will execute after the birth of baby and one Samskaras is execute
after the death of a person or when human complete the life cycle. Arbhadhan
Sanskar will executive from the purpose of improvement in child and also
performed for intelligence.
2-Punsavan-
This Samskaras performed for the good physical and mental health of the baby,
in the womb of the mother. This sanskar is execute chanting Vedic Mantras. From
this sanskar child born healthy clever and bright.
3- Simantonayan-
Simantonayan sanskar is execute after
the finishing of 4 , 6,8 month. In the
mother womb, when there is development of mentally and physically of baby
,mother should take care of their thoughts because at this stage baby get
emulates mother feelings and thought. This sanskar is for think positive and
good thoughts.
This ritual is performed after the birth
of baby, where the baby is freeing from Doshas of birth time and the doshas of
remaining in the mother womb and pray for long life of a baby. After the
performing ritual of Suraksha Kavach of Dev Devi ,Deties and Pitrus are
satisfied from pooja and after that ghee and honey touched at the lips of baby
and nabhi-dand is cut.
Ritual of naamkaran is performed on the 11th day of the baby. Expert
Brahmins prepared Janampatri of the birth time of the baby and give name to the
baby accordingly.And native also take guidance from best astrologer
about child future prediction or career prediction.
Nishkramna refers to go out on the fourth
month and Darshan is perfomed of Panchmahabhut- Prathvi, Jal, Tej, Vayu and
Akash and prayers are offered for the good health of the child.
Meals are offered to the child on the seventh month, on that day pooja
Annapurna Devi is performed.
At the age of one,three,five years from
the birth, hair of child is take off through Mundan Sanskar, so the it’s helps
to develop brainpower and destroy the bugs of pregnancy time.
Through this sanskar ,education of child
started or begin and at this time Pooja of Maa Sharda Devi is performed.
In this sankar, baby ears piercing with
the help of golden needle. From this sanskar flow of blood in the brain of the
child increase the memory power or brain power.
This sanskar is performed by accepting
three layered cotton thread known as Yagnopavit , this is performed in front of
Guru. After this ritual or wearing the Yagnapavit. Person is known as Dwij-which refers born
second time.
Apart from formal education , the child
is also convey the education of vedic gyan.
Before enroll in Bramcharyashram , its compulsory to saved for
kesant-sidhhi of bramcharya because kaamdev live in kesh ( Hair).
This sanskar is executed after child complete his education.
This is the main sanskar where agni is lighted and take parikrama of the agni
bride and bridgegroom take oath and promise to live together whole life.
This sanskar is performed after leaving human body. Lagna sanskar is perform from home to crematorium and body is offered to fire, by doing this, Atma gets free from all types of responsibilities.
After discuss about all sanskar , lets discuss about importance and significance of thread.
In fact, most Brahmins wear it on their
chest , people follow the tradition of apply during the Upanayna ceremony,which
refers to taking apostle to the Guru or Teacher. There are three circles in
thread. The word Yogvopaveet is the sum of “Yajna” and “above” and “holly”.
According to Hindu Mythology, when Vishnu is in Vamana Avatar , Lord Vishnu send King Bali into the Patal Lok. It is believed to have tied a red thread ( Kalava or mauli) on Bal’s wrist to bestow immortality. It is from herer that the practice of tying red thread on people’s wrists started, so they could be given long life.
Each of these nadis is connected with the three body Doshasur elements-vata,
Kapha and pitt where vata or vayu or air
is the necessary to boost the function of nervous system. Tying Kalawa is an
identification of Hinduism, It is in red , yellow, orange , colour. Kalwa is
tied in hands of man and women both.Tying kalawa is an important tradition
which signifies that doing Anushthan.
This thread is tried by elder of the
family member on the wrist of every single person who join pooja ceremony.
It is believed that tying Kalawa we get
blessings from Mahadev,Brahma,Vishnu. From Bhrahma, they help to get fame ,
from the blessling of Lord Vishnu we get protected from the bad eyes and from
the blessing of Mahadev we get the power to fight all negative energies.
According to Mytology and best astrologers,
black thread protect from all negative
energies from bad eyes. It Improve strength to improve digestive system. It
also improve the inner function of body like kidney and bladder.
