One of the main deities in
Hindu mythology is Durga, whose name means THE INACCESSIBLE. Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva
planned to create Goddess Durga to defeat the Mahisasura after helpless and unable to kill Mahisasura.
In Hindu mythology, Durga is shown riding a lion and carrying eight or ten

1-Shailputri Devi
The first deity that Hindus worship
throughout the nine holy days of the Navaratri is Shailputri, whose name
literally translates as "daughter of the mountains." She is known by
a number of names, including Sati, Bhavani, Parvati, and Hemavati. She is the
purest of Goddess Durga's nine incarnations and the daughter of the queen of
the mountains. The Goddess of Nature is shown as riding a bull, holding a
trident that represents the three time periods—the past, the present, and the
future—and a lotus bloom, which stands for peace.
2-Brahmacharini Devi-
The literal meaning of the name
Brahmacharini is "one who practises penance" or "one who is the
disciple." On the second day of the nine-day celebration, they worship Maa
Brahmachari. Brahmacharini is born in Daksha Prajapati's home. She is revered
as the Goddess Durga's virginal form. She represents repentance. She also goes
by several names, including Devi Yogi and Devi Tapaswini.
3- Chandraghanta -
Chandraghanta's name means "one who
holds a half-moon in the shape of a bell," according to its literal
meaning. In actuality, on the second day of Navaratri, they worship Maa
Chandraghanta. Legend has it that she always has her third eye open because she
is constantly prepared to battle demons.
4-Goddess Kushmanda-
Maa Kushmanda, according to Hindu
legend, created the world simply by smiling. She is also the source of Lord
Sun's strength. Additionally, Mahalakshmi, Mahakali, and Maha Saraswati were
also made by Maa Kushmanda. According to legend, worshipping Maa Kushmanda
enhances one's health and vigour. Therefore, on the fourth day of Navaratri,
people worship Maa Kushmanda.
5-Skandamata-
The mother of Skanda, Lord Kartikeya, is
the name of the goddess Skandamata in its literal sense. He is often referred
to as the Lord of War in Hindu rituals.On the fourth day of Navaratri, they
offer her adoration. She is known as the fire goddess; she had a white skin,
lotuses in her hands, and her son Skanda on her laps.
6-Deity Katyayani
During Navaratri's sixth day, she is
worshipped. Devi Parvati's second name is given to Devi Katyayani. According to
legend, Devi Katyayani was conceived as a result of the gods' wrath.The
Markandeya Purana contains references to her. According to the Puranas, Mata
Katyayani became enraged upon learning of the distress of the gods, donned
brilliant red clothing and ornaments, and with a terrible expression, killed
Mahisasura.
7-Kaalratri Maa -
The name Kaalratri literally translates to "one who does
kindness." It is Maa Durga's seventh incarnation and the first
self-referential form to be addressed in the Durga Saptashati.The destructive
nature of Maa Kaalratri is extensively described in the Markandeya Purana.
8-Goddess Mahagauri-
Mahagauri, the name of the goddess, literally translates as "very
white." She is one of Goddess Durga's eight incarnations and is hailed as
the sins' greatest pardoner.
9-Siddhidatri-
The name Mata Siddhidatri means "giver of supernatural abilities or
meditative skill" in its literal sense. He goes by the name
Ardhanareshwara since it is stated that the ninth form of Goddess Durga is made
up of half of Lord Shiva's body.
